Despite being one of the most highly scrutinized and maintained open source software, Bitcoin Core (the Bitcoin reference client) and other wallet software gets sometimes falsely detected as malicious or PUP (Potentially Unwanted Programs). This website tracks the detection rate of Bitcoin clients on VirusTotal which aggregates antivirus products and online scan engines.
